Convalescence & Recovery Retreat
Leaving hospital or completing treatment does not always mean you feel ready to return to ordinary life.
Olive Creek offers a private place to regain strength at a more considered pace, with personalised care, nourishing meals, restorative therapies and the quiet needed for recovery.
Every stay begins with an understanding of your condition, present abilities and the support recommended by your treating practitioner.
Minimum stay: 7 nights
Your Recovery, Not a Standard Programme
Convalescence cannot be reduced to a fixed treatment list.
One guest may need uninterrupted sleep, nourishing meals and limited activity. Another may be ready for gentle mobility work, body therapies and a gradual return to a more structured day.
Before confirming your stay, Olive Creek will consider your medical history, reason for convalescence, current mobility, medication, dietary needs and any instructions provided by your treating practitioner.
The care plan can then be shaped around what is appropriate now, rather than what would normally be included in a wellness package.
As your strength changes, the pace of the stay can change with it.
Who This Retreat May Support
This retreat is not a substitute for hospital treatment, emergency care or specialist inpatient rehabilitation.
Following Surgery
For guests who have been discharged and medically cleared to continue their recovery outside a hospital environment.
After Illness
For those whose acute illness has passed but who remain tired, physically depleted or slower to regain their usual strength.
Following Medical Treatment
For guests who need a restorative period after completing a demanding course of treatment, subject to approval from their treating clinician.
After Injury
For adults who have moved beyond the acute stage of care and need time, appropriate support and a calmer setting in which to recuperate.
During Physical Exhaustion
For those whose health has been affected by prolonged physical strain, reduced nourishment or an extended period of inactivity.
Before Returning to Daily Responsibilities
For guests who are medically stable but not yet confident about resuming work, travel, household responsibilities or their usual routine.
Between Treatment and Home
The period after illness, surgery or medical treatment can feel unexpectedly demanding.
You may be medically stable but still tired, physically weaker than before or uncertain about how much activity is appropriate. Everyday tasks can take more energy, and the pressure to return to normal may arrive long before you feel ready.
Convalescence gives this stage of recovery the attention it deserves.
At Olive Creek, the day is organised around what you can comfortably manage. Meals are prepared, treatments are selected carefully and quieter periods are protected. Rather than measuring progress against a rigid timetable, the team responds to your energy, mobility and changing needs.
Recovery is not rushed here.
The Foundations of Your Stay
Rest Without Isolation
Your accommodation offers privacy and uninterrupted time to sleep, while attentive support helps you feel cared for rather than left to recover alone.
Nourishment for Rebuilding
Meals can be adapted around your appetite, dietary requirements and recovery needs, with an emphasis on consistency, comfort and appropriate nourishment.
Appropriate Movement
Where medically suitable, gentle activity can be introduced gradually to support confidence and everyday function without turning recovery into a fitness programme.
Restorative Care
Selected body therapies and relaxation practices may be incorporated where they are considered safe and useful for your stage of recovery.
Emotional Reassurance
Illness and treatment can leave people feeling uncertain or vulnerable. Calm conversation, familiar routines and thoughtful support can make the transition feel less overwhelming.
A Clearer Return Home
Your stay can conclude with practical recommendations and a more realistic understanding of what you are ready to resume.
Care May Be Built Around
Initial Assessment and Planning
Before the programme is finalised, the team takes time to understand your condition, recent treatment, current limitations and the instructions of your healthcare providers.
Restorative Therapies
Gentle Ayurvedic bodywork, relaxation practices or other complementary therapies may be included where they are appropriate and do not conflict with your medical care.
Mobility and Daily Function
Your programme may include carefully paced activity intended to support confidence and independence. Any specialist rehabilitation or physiotherapy requirements must be discussed before booking.
Personalised Nutrition
Meals are planned around your appetite, dietary restrictions and wider recovery needs. Relevant swallowing difficulties, allergies or medically prescribed diets must be disclosed in advance.
Emotional Support
Private conversation, mindfulness or calming practices may be included for guests who would benefit from reassurance after a physically or emotionally difficult period.
Communication With Your Existing Care
With your consent, relevant instructions or reports from your doctor, surgeon or therapist can be considered when assessing whether Olive Creek is suitable and planning your stay.

Common Questions
Explore answers to your enquiries about our Convalescence Package.
Convalescence is the gradual period of rebuilding health and strength after illness, surgery, injury or medical treatment. At Olive Creek, it refers to a personalised residential stay after the acute stage of care has passed.
Guests recovering from surgery, a significant illness or medical treatment should obtain guidance from their treating clinician before travelling. Your doctor’s recommendations, restrictions and follow-up requirements should be shared with Olive Creek during the assessment process. NHS guidance similarly advises following the instructions of the team responsible for your post-operative care.
No. Olive Creek is a residential wellness retreat. It does not replace hospital care, emergency treatment or specialist inpatient rehabilitation.
These services are not listed as standard inclusions on the existing programme page. Any need for nursing, physiotherapy, wound care, injections or other clinical assistance must be discussed and confirmed before the stay is accepted.
Bring sufficient prescribed medication in its original packaging and continue taking it according to your doctor’s instructions. The team must be told in advance if you require assistance administering or managing medication, as this should not be assumed to be included.
Suitability depends on your condition, mobility, travel requirements and the level of care you still need. Olive Creek should review your information before travel is arranged.
Share all allergies, intolerances, reduced-appetite concerns and medically prescribed dietary requirements during your enquiry. The team will assess whether these can be safely accommodated.
Please include your diagnosis or reason for treatment, discharge date, relevant medical reports, current medication, mobility limitations, dietary needs and the contact details of your treating practitioner where appropriate.
