CARE THAT LOOKS BEYOND THE PAIN
Chronic Pain
Management Retreat
Persistent pain can begin to shape almost every decision, from how you sleep and move to where you go and what you feel able to do.
This private residential programme brings together individual assessment, therapeutic bodywork, carefully supported movement, acupuncture, restorative practices and personalised nourishment.
The aim is not to promise a cure. It is to help you understand your pain more clearly, move with greater confidence and develop practical ways of supporting daily function beyond the retreat.
Minimum stay: 7 nights
When Pain Starts
Organising Your Life
Chronic pain rarely remains confined to one part of the body.
It can change the way you sit, walk, sleep and plan your day. You may begin avoiding certain movements, withdrawing from activities or saving your limited energy for only what feels essential.
Over time, life can become smaller without you consciously choosing it.
The Chronic Pain Management Retreat offers a different setting in which to look at the full picture. Rather than focusing only on the painful area, the programme considers movement, muscular tension, sleep, stress, nourishment and the patterns that have developed around discomfort.
Modern pain management increasingly favours a coordinated approach that considers biological, psychological and social factors rather than relying on one treatment alone.
Who This Retreat
May Support
The retreat is not intended to diagnose unexplained pain or replace specialist medical investigation. New, severe or rapidly worsening symptoms should be assessed by an appropriate healthcare professional before travel.
Persistent Back
or Neck Pain
For adults living with recurring discomfort, stiffness or restricted movement that continues to affect daily life.
Joint and Muscular Discomfort
For guests managing ongoing tension, reduced mobility or pain associated with musculoskeletal conditions.
Recovery After Injury or Surgery
For those who have completed the acute stage of treatment and have been medically cleared to participate in a supported residential wellness programme.
Pain That Disrupts Sleep
For guests whose rest is regularly interrupted by discomfort, tension or difficulty finding a comfortable position.
Reduced Confidence in Movement
For those who have become hesitant or fearful about physical activity after repeated flare-ups.
Lifestyle-Related Discomfort
For guests whose symptoms may be influenced by prolonged sitting, repetitive movement, stress, inactivity or demanding routines.
A Different Measure of Progress
Pain is often discussed only in terms of intensity.
At Olive Creek, progress is considered more broadly. It may mean sleeping for longer, moving with less hesitation, understanding what aggravates your symptoms or being able to complete an ordinary activity with greater ease.
The programme is not built around pushing through discomfort. Nor is it designed around complete inactivity.
Instead, care is adjusted to help you find a more workable balance between movement, treatment and recovery. Rehabilitation is fundamentally concerned with improving function and reducing the limitations created by a health condition.
Four Parts of the Process

1. Understand
Your stay begins with individual consultations and assessments intended to build a clearer picture of your symptoms, health history, daily routines and present limitations.

2. Ease
Personalised bodywork, acupuncture, heat therapies, hydrotherapy and relaxation practices are used to support comfort and reduce accumulated physical tension. Not every therapy is suitable or necessary for every guest.

3. Reintroduce Movement
Yoga, hydrotherapy and carefully selected movement are approached according to your present ability. The focus is on confidence, awareness and consistency rather than intensity.

4. Continue
Before leaving, you receive practical recommendations to help you manage activity, recovery and supportive routines within everyday life.
Your Retreat Includes
The order and selection of therapies may be adjusted according to your assessment, health history and response during the week.

Personal Assessment and Guidance
Your programme includes a private Ayurvedic consultation, body composition analysis, blood sampling and bioenergetic analysis. A concluding consultation provides personalised recommendations for continuing appropriate routines at home. These are the assessments currently listed within Olive Creek’s weekly programme.

Therapeutic Ayurvedic Bodywork
Four to five personalised Ayurvedic massage sessions are selected around your pain pattern and tolerance. Additional restorative body therapies may be introduced where considered suitable by the practitioner.

Acupuncture and Healing Sessions
Two acupuncture treatments and two individual healing sessions form part of the published programme, alongside three meditation or breathwork practices.

Mindful Movement
Two yoga sessions provide an opportunity to explore gentle movement, breathing and body awareness without pressure to reach a particular level of performance.

Heat and Water Therapies
Your stay includes one far-infrared session, three sauna sessions, three hammam sessions and two hydrotherapy sessions. The suitability of heat and water-based therapies will depend on your health information and individual programme.

Personalised Nourishment
An individual nutrition consultation informs your customised Ayurvedic eating plan. Programme meals and herbal infusions are provided throughout your residential stay.
Moving Without the Pressure to Prove Yourself
Living with pain can create an uneasy relationship with movement.
On a better day, it can be tempting to do too much. A flare-up then leads to prolonged rest, followed by another attempt to catch up. This cycle can make activity feel unpredictable and erode confidence over time.
The retreat encourages a steadier approach.
Sessions are kept within an appropriate range and balanced with recovery. Gentle activity is widely used within persistent pain management, while pacing helps avoid repeated cycles of overactivity and forced rest.
The purpose is not to ignore pain. It is to begin moving with more awareness and less fear.
Your Week at Olive Creek
Your programme is arranged around treatment days, periods of recovery and your current physical capacity.
Some mornings may begin with gentle movement or breathwork before breakfast. Other days may open with a consultation or simply more time to rest.
Bodywork, acupuncture, hydrotherapy and heat therapies are spaced so that the week does not become another demanding schedule. Meals are served at a consistent rhythm, and quieter periods allow you to read, sleep or spend time in the gardens.
Your response is observed throughout the stay. Activities can be reduced, adapted or rescheduled where necessary.

What Improvement May Look Like
Every guest responds differently. Olive Creek does not guarantee pain elimination, reduced medication use or a specific medical outcome.
More Comfortable Movement
You may begin to understand which movements feel supportive and how to approach activity with greater control.
Fewer Extremes
A more measured rhythm may help reduce the cycle of doing too much on better days and becoming inactive during flare-ups.
Better Rest
Body therapies, relaxation practices and a more consistent daily rhythm may support a calmer approach to sleep.
Greater Body Confidence
Supported movement can help you feel less uncertain about what your body can safely manage.
A Practical Plan
The retreat concludes with recommendations that can be adapted to your home, schedule and ongoing professional care.
Greater Awareness of Triggers
You may become more aware of the movements, routines, stress patterns and daily habits that influence your discomfort.

Common Questions
Explore answers to your enquiries about our Chronic Pain Management package.
The programme is intended primarily for adults living with persistent musculoskeletal pain, including recurring back, neck, joint and muscular discomfort. Suitability is assessed individually before the stay is confirmed.
No. Chronic pain can be complex, and no particular result can be guaranteed. The programme focuses on comfort, mobility, daily function, self-awareness and practical management strategies.
A diagnosis and relevant clinical information can help the team understand your condition. Unexplained, severe or recently worsening pain should be assessed by a qualified healthcare professional before attending.
The current Olive Creek page mentions physiotherapy and movement therapy, but these are not separately itemised in the published weekly inclusions. The team should confirm what specialist movement support will form part of your individual programme before booking.
Possibly, once the acute treatment stage is complete and your treating practitioner has confirmed that residential therapies and gentle movement are appropriate. Relevant reports and restrictions should be shared during your enquiry.
No. Movement is adapted around your condition and tolerance. The programme does not encourage forcing activity or ignoring warning signs.
Yes. Do not stop, reduce or alter prescribed medication unless instructed by the clinician responsible for your care. Share all current medication and relevant health information before arrival.
Not always. Certain medical conditions may make heat or water therapies unsuitable. Their inclusion will depend on your health assessment and practitioner guidance.
